About Alberto Seveso

Alberto Seveso’s story begins in Milan, Italy, where he was born in 1976. Growing up in Sardinia, a region known for its serene landscapes and rich culture, Seveso’s environment undoubtedly shaped his creative mind.

From a young age, Seveso was drawn to the visual arts. Pencils and sketchpads were his constant companions, but it wasn’t just traditional art forms that captured his attention. As a child of the 80s, he was mesmerized by the explosion of graphic design in pop culture—think neon colors, bold typography, and eye-catching album covers.

Alberto Seveso’s Influences from the Digital Era

The rise of the internet and computer graphics in the 90s marked a pivotal point for Seveso. It was a time when technology changed how art could be created and consumed. The fusion of art and technology became his playground, with programs like Photoshop opening up a world of possibilities.

For Alberto Seveso, the transition from traditional mediums to digital art was both challenging and rewarding.

He initially worked with analog techniques, experimenting with photography and graphic design. But it was the allure of digital tools that ultimately pulled him in. Learning to manipulate images digitally was like discovering a new language, one he quickly became fluent in.

His early experiments caught the attention of the online art community. Websites and forums dedicated to graphic design showcased his innovative use of color and form, sparking interest in his work.

Alberto Seveso’s artworks are an explosion of colors and textures that feel organic and otherworldly.

TheDispersionEffect

Seveso is best known for his dispersion technique, where images appear to break apart into vibrant particles. This effect, often used in portraits, feels almost like a burst of creative energy frozen in time.

One of Seveso’s trademarks is blending photography with graphic elements. His portraits often start with real photographs, which he then transforms into surreal compositions using digital tools.

Alberto relies heavily on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, but he’s also known to experiment with 3D modeling software and other design tools to achieve his visionary results.

Over the years, Seveso’s work has found its way into magazines, advertising campaigns, and even album covers, solidifying his status as a modern art icon.

His collaborations with international brands like Adobe, Nikon, and Bacardi have not only expanded his audience but also showcased the versatility of his art.

Seveso’s work in the music industry deserves special mention. From designing vibrant album covers to contributing to music videos, his influence on pop culture is undeniable.

About Ronald Zambrano

Ronald Zambrano’s works focus investigates the discipline of painting through color. Almost all his work develops through layers and natural pigments. Ronald covers parts of the canvas while leaving other areas only partially empty. Abstract art allows him to explore painting with freedom, to live the journey as an experience with its different stages to reach the recognition of the identity.

The harmony he reaches is honest and vibrant, an explicit conversation about himself through pigments and forms. The chosen colors and shapes resemble physical nature, such as plants and water, or genuine feelings like anger and joy. Although each area of his canvas may also stand alone, it is undeniable how every element in his paintings functions as a whole.

We had an exclusive interview with Ronald. Get comfy and enjoy reading it!

Ronald Zambrano

Let’s start from the basics. What’s your name, and where have you grown up?

My name is Ronald Zambrano. I was born in San Cristobal, Venezuela, a city in the Venezuelan Andes. I lived there for the first stage of my life, where I studied art and language, and literature. Later I came to Europe to spend a year in Vienna, working as an assistant to an artist called Karl Goldammer. Finally, I settled in Madrid, where I got a master’s degree in criticism and practice of contemporary art.

When or how have you understood you wanted to become an artist?

As a child, I painted the walls of my house. Back then, I wasn’t aware of art, so I started to be mindful of color, and slowly something awoke in me. It was when my mother gave me a box full of colored pencils that I began spending hours drawing and painting.

Please briefly describe your technique and tell us what drives you to make art.

I work with color, and I create paintings from pure pigments. I also use sprays, acrylics, and oils.

What is the main feature that has changed in your work or practice?

I used to work more with figurative art, but development and artistic research led me to abstraction. Even if I never rejected figurative art, I prioritized looking for the prominence of color.

Which artist primarily inspires your work? And is there something else, outside visual arts, that keeps you motivated?

I like different artists, Peter Zimmerman, Cruz Diez, Joseph Beuys, and some classics like Turner and TiZIANO. I also like music and literature.

How would you like people to engage with your work?

I want people to feel a relationship between print and memory. These are two of the points I mainly work on, and I like the viewer to catch this when looking at my piece immediately.

Ronald Zambrano Ronald Zambrano

Spread the word! Do you have anything exciting on the horizon?

I am currently painting a lot while also working on objects and installations to strengthen contacts with galleries and art spaces.

About Tola Navarro

Tola Navarro (b.1984) lives in Caracas, Venezuela. He is a sculptor’s grandson and a Chilean poet’s son. Tola holds a degree in Architecture with a minor in Art History from the Universidad del Desarrollo.

His CV sees collaborations with the famous architect Cazú Zegers and the real estate project Varanda 7, together with the renowned architect Emilio Arancibia. In 2016 and 2018, he participated in contemporary art research residencies in Lima and Sao Paulo, respectively.

Tola Navarro

Tola’s exhibitions already include ones at Galería Arte Espacio, ArtStgo, and Faxxi. In 2019 he was invited to a residency in Contemporary Art in Sao Paulo, and in 2020, after his father passed away, he decided to build a permanent workshop in Batuco, Chile.

We recently had a fascinating interview with Tola, through which he deepened his art and creative practice.

Hello Tola, nice to have you here. Let’s start from the basics. What’s your name, and where have you grown up?

Hello, my full name is Tola Navarro. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. I now live in Santiago, Chile.

How did you understand you would have become an artist?

I have indeed been a painter all my life. Since I can remember, I have wanted to paint and create new work. Although I have wanted to become an artist since school, it was only around 2015 that I decided to become a full-time one.

Please briefly describe your technique and tell us what drives you to make art.

My art mainly consists of spray paint on paper. It is a technique that I define as ‘origami inspired’ as it combines paper foldings with geometric and abstract work. The desire to create beautiful new work drives me to create never seen works that inspire people.

Tola Navarro artist Tola Navarro artist Tola Navarro Tola Navarro

What is the main feature that has changed in your works or practice throughout the years?

Practice, experimentation, and a lot of work make me grow. I wake up early every day and go to my workshop to work on new pieces.

Which artist primarily inspires your work? And is there something else, outside visual arts, that keeps you motivated?

I love what Felipe Pantone is doing. CNC machining and the incredible potential of 3d printing.

Finally, how would you like people to engage with your work?

I want them to genuinely look at what it is, spray on paper.

My work doesn’t reflect anything outside of its inner potential, it is what it is.

Each piece is an experience of pure visual pleasure and exploration. It embraces you with itself in its spaces of color, light, and shadows.

About Soo-Jin Lee

Soo-Jin Lee (SooJin) is an independent Graphic Designer from Seoul, South Korea. She lived in the US for five years studying at the California Institute of the Arts, where she gained a BFA in Graphic Design in 2016.

SooJin likes to explore digital arts, and her technique keens towards both digital and physical experiences. But let’s better understand what this means. She mainly uses Adobe Illustrator and sometimes Photoshop to finalize her artworks. Currently, she is also studying the idea to deepen cinema4D for 3D object elements to create better digital experiences.

Hello Soojin, Where have you grown up?

I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. I lived in America for 5 years, a mix of college and work.

Can you please provide a brief description of what you do or some information about your technique?

I usually use Adobe Illustrator and sometimes Photoshop. But off late, I am trying to also work with Cinema4D for 3d object elements to create better digital experiences.

What inspires you to create art?

I wanted to reimagine our surroundings and approach them with an anti-capitalist lens.

This was the reason I started the self-initiated project, Replica. The idea behind the project was that signs, labels and banners from mundane life can be reinterpreted, and made into memes (partially) through mischievous visual alterations.

How is your day-to-day working process?

Currently, I am working as a freelance designer. The scope of my work is kinda varied from

marketing to illustration for various brands. The marketing aspect, usually includes creating a business pitch deck and social media collaterals. Occasionally, I work on web or app design.

How long have you been working in this field?

I have been working as a freelance designer after a few internships during academic and graduation. So it has been about 3 years.

Which artists have had the greatest influence on your work?

I would love to choose Tim and Eric, an American comedy duo and creators. They inspired me with their absurdist sense of humor and satire and retro aesthetic on their shows they have created.

What inspires your practice outside of visual arts?

Weirdly, I get inspired by street and building signs and ads. And sometimes memes using these signs and symbols. I get an idea and create a design piece from them by visualizing with a bit of nihilism and a sarcastic view.

How would you like people to engage with your work?

I want viewers to feel intrigued by my work, finding similarness and differences from their

daily objects. And at the same time, I hope they induce conflict with what they used to seeing.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I wish to grow and develop myself more as an independent and multidisciplinary designer.

So I hope to deliver and create digital and physical interactive experiences.

About Zim&Zou

French duo Zim&Zou create paper art installations for a wide range of international clients such as Microsoft, ICON,Hermès, TIME, Washington Post, ENI, Der Spiegel, La Rinascente e il Centre Pompidou.

Zim&Zou is a young duo composed of Lucie Thomas (b. 1987) and Thibaut Zimmermann (b. 1986). They both started as graphic designers, working in publishing and advertising. After a few years, they focused on installations using handcrafted objects made out of paper, wood, threads, etc.

Their favorite material is the paper they’re manipulating to give rise to intricate and colorful sculptures. Paper inspires them for its versatility, infinite range of colors and unique textures. The flat paper sheets turned into volume are giving an installation the poetry of ephemeral material.
Zim&Zou’s strength is to be a complementary and polyvalent duo.

Work Process

All of Zim&Zou’s works are not computer design based but handcrafted! Their favorite material is paper, which they cut, fold, glue to create colorful sculptures.

Paper is the most versatile of mediums to them, as for its unique colors and textures. The final artwork is an installation rich in poetry and shapes of any complexity. Their visual style focuses on exciting and whimsical scenes. Colorful buildings, giant flowers, and vegetation, natural landscapes are filled with huge seafood to become the main characters of their creations.  ‘Life is everywhere; flowers are growing and carry away its inhabitants in their impetus. The mysterious people are evolving, building, and living right in the heart of nature, revealing a fragment of their daily life.’

MUSEUM OF SUPERNATURAL HISTORY – Artist Windows for Hermès Maison Shanghai.

The concept is inspired by a Museum of Natural History, melted with a Cabinet of Curiosities. The windows, hand-made with paper and leather, are an invitation to wander. Passers-by were suddenly walking through the corridors of a mysterious Museum, straight from the street. The themes take impulse from nature; the two main windows are about Air and Water, and the two smaller ones around Earth. All the animals are carefully handcrafted using leather offcuts from Hermès workshops in Paris. In the water-themed window, a 5 meters dinosaur paper skull is swimming through the room (plesiosaurus skull)—the whole project required almost three months of work and a great local team’s support.

About Vasjen Katro

Albanian visual designer Vasjen Katro likes challenges, so he took one named Baugasm. This beautiful ambition is about designing a poster every 365 days of the year. The posters are published daily on his Instagram account, a true visual delight. You won’t be able to stop scrolling.

Katro came to graphic design through music. He was an electronic music producer years ago, and when he signed his first contract with the label, he just wanted to create by himself the artwork for his first EP. At that time, he was into photography and knew about image manipulation, but that was the first time he explored graphic design on a real product.

Today Vasjen Katr doesn’t limit himself to digital tools; he also enjoys using acrylic paint to create patterns and textures for his posters – as you can see in this tutorials.

BAUGASM: A-POSTER-A-DAY

With his most renowned project Bauguasm, Katro wanted to challenge himself to create something new every day, without cheating. He continued designing posters also while in the hospital (with the help of painkillers) recovering from two broken ribs. Creating posters allowed him to explore the vast potential of tools like Photoshop (his favorite), Illustrator, and Cinema 4D.  “Combining different software is the best thing ever because you have unlimited tools to play with and possible combinations.”, he says.

Katro likes to tell everyone that his poster-a-day project started as a crazy idea, but ended up being so much more.

It’s a private event promoting contemporary fine art, to give visibility to artists by fostering their creative production and giving art amateurs, collectors, and galleries a vast content intake.

Tartget is an exclusive online contest of the duration of twelve months of artistic connection and production. Dates, Deadlines and How to Apply

The launch and flagship event is set for the spring of 2024. Beyond the competition, the organization will promote other events, collaborate with associations, art schools, and artist residencies, and be dedicated to encouraging the momentum of artists and their creations.

TARTGET Painting Prize arises as an international window through which emerging creators, enthusiasts, professionals, or established artists have the chance to present their works on a widely broadcast platform and, consequently, establish a presence in the market.

Their works will be examined and fairly evaluated by reputable members of the jury and considered for their agendas by collectors of proven prestige. One of these, as mentioned above, will be the “Hue&Eye prize”.

TARTGET Painting Prize’s website provides a space where artists can create their profiles and register their works. They just need to photograph their works (up to three images maximum) and attach the files in JPG format.

The entry fee for participating in one work is €50, and from the second work onwards, the price is reduced to €30.

In the young artist category, prices are €35 for the first work and €15 for each additional work.

The registration period ends on March 10, 2025. Then, a prestigious international jury formed by painters, curators, collectors, and gallery owners from five continents will select the 200 finalist works.

The organization, with the advice of the jury, will decide which finalist works will be featured in the final exhibition, at the prestigious Ateneo de Madrid, where another physical jury composed of renowned painters from the global art and culture scene will award the main prizes included in the competition rules.

Around 50 paintings will be selected for the exhibition at the Ateneo de Madrid, which will be inaugurated on June 5 and will remain open until the 12th.

Awards and Visibility

One of the great attractions of TARTGET is the visibility that Madrid will give to the artists. No other city brings together three of the world’s most outstanding art galleries in so few meters; and the final exhibition will be located in that golden mile of art, a five-minute walk from the Prado Museum. The exhibition will attract the attention of a substantial audience after the works are revealed in a preview for collectors, sponsors, and entrepreneurs, so they can be acquired.

Of course, the other great value of TARGET is the unparalleled number of prizes it awards.

More than €40,000 in cash will be distributed among the winners, divided into four main prizes (€12,000 for first place, €6,000 for second place, €4,000 for third place, and €4,000 for the Target Fusion prize), ten additional prizes of €500 each for the first place in each category, and acquisition prizes exceeding €10,000.

Furthermore, more than forty awards in art materials, training, and promotion valued at over €10,000 will be given out. In total, more than €50,000 in prizes make this competition one of the most important in the world.

The award ceremony will be attended by personalities from the art world, culture, sports, and politics, in addition to numerous media outlets. A unique opportunity to open the doors to success.

In total, there will be 22 cash prizes, including an award for the best work by an artist under 25 years old.

The organization will also reward winners with a one-week residency at the MAA (Madrid Academy of ART), various recognitions with fine arts materials, and promotion in international art magazines.

The Hue&Eye Award

The prize will consist of a journalistic article for the winner, to be featured in Hue & Eye magazine, valued at €200.

All finalist painters will be eligible for this prize, regardless of the category in which they participated, and even if they are not selected for the final exhibition.
