Market Art Fair is the leading contemporary art fair in the Nordic region. The fair was initiated in 2006 by galleries representing the Nordic countries. It later became a trusted meeting and marketplace in the heart of the Nordic art industry.

During the fair, selected galleries showcase an exclusive selection of the most exciting artists on the Nordic scene, focusing on solo projects and carefully curated presentations. They connect international collectors, institutions, art professionals, the press, and guests annually.

The fair also features an ambitious program, Market Talks, collateral events, and projects throughout Stockholm. These include an extensive VIP Programme for international collectors and professionals.

Market Art Fair 2022

The 16th edition of the fair was opened by the Swedish Minister for Culture, Jeanette Gustafsdotter, and welcomed thirty-eight galleries. It was the most significant number to participate at the fair, from seven countries, representing over seventy artists.

Artists Participating

The fair had a particular focus on the Icelandic art scene with a strong presence of renowned Icelandic artists, including Olafur Eliasson, Arna Óttarsdóttir, Birgir Andrésson, Shoplifter/ Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir, and Ragnar Kjartansson. The fair also highlighted the work of a Sami artist for the first time, Tomas Colbengston. It coincided with the transformation of the Nordic Pavilion into ‘The Sámi Pavilion’ during the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in 2022.

This year, Marres will organize the second edition of the Limburg Biennale: a group exhibition that brings together all kinds of artists, professionals, amateurs, and hobbyists in a festive celebration of the arts. With the Limburg Biennale, Marres follows the tradition of the annual Summer Exhibition of the Royal Academy in London. The first edition, which took place in 2020, was a great success, with over 250 artworks by more than 150 artists.

Open Call

Marres invites everyone in Limburg and its surroundings to participate in the Limburg Biennale. During an open call that took place from 2 to 18 March, artists could submit a maximum of three works. Afterward, a jury of 11 professional artists will select artworks for the exhibition. They will also set up a room in Marres with their selection and show their work.

About Marres

From the historical house in the center of Maastricht, Marres explores contemporary art in the broadest possible sense. The museum was founded in 1998. It takes its name from the brewers’ family, Marres, that lived in the house in the twentieth century.
Marres develops exhibitions, organizes workshops, and issues unique publications. It also creates walks in the city and region to offer a wide range of education and participation activities. Marres’ program focuses on experience, the working of the senses, and the body’s language. In this, Marres collaborates with makers from various disciplines: visual artists, musicians, theater makers, dancers, scientists, perfumers, and cooks.
With an internationally oriented program for artists and the public, Marres bridges the worlds of contemporary art and everyday experience in its intimate house. In the same building next to the museum is the Mediterranean restaurant Marres Kitchen and behind the house, you find a lush public city garden.

Frieze Los Angeles is a leading international art fair launched in 2019.

Christine Messineo is the Director of Frieze Los Angeles and Frieze New York.

Frieze Los Angeles primarily focuses on contemporary art and celebrates the exceptionally dynamic culture of Los Angeles and its global contributions to the visual arts. It brings together over 100 galleries from LA and worldwide, and also includes Frieze Week events across the city.

This year, Focus LA, the fair section dedicated to galleries aged 15 years or younger, is curated by Amanda Hunt (Director of Public Programs & Creative Practice, Lucas Museum of Narrative Art) and feature 11 of the city’s defining young galleries.

Frieze Sculpture Beverly Hills for the 2022 edition.

Frieze Sculpture Beverly Hills is a public art initiative, free and open for all to attend. It previously was in both London and New York, featuring major installations by artists that work on a monumental scale and it takes place at Beverly Gardens Park, supported by the City of Beverly Hills.

Date and Location

The fair will return from February 17-20, 2022 in a new location in the heart of Beverly Hills.

Situated at 9900 Wilshire Boulevard, the new site will see the fair occupy a prime position between the Hammer Museum and the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

The fair is in a bespoke structure designed by WHY Architecture’s Creative Director, Kulapat Yantrasast, and Landscape Director, Mark Thomann.

Paris Photo is the largest international art fair pointing to the photographic medium and held each November in the heart of Paris. Since 1997, the Fair’s mission is to promote and nurture photographic creation and the galleries, publishers, and artists at its source.

2021 Edition

This year is special in more ways than one. A new venue, the Grand Palais Ephémère, an eco-responsible building at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, and a new digital platform offering additional accessibility to works of art for collectors and enthusiasts. Finally a new impetus for Paris, the cradle of photography, thanks to our institutions and a burgeoning arts scene.

For the 2021 edition, Paris Photo brings together 147 galleries from 28 countries; 63% of which are foreign, reflecting a strong desire and a need to come together. In addition, 30 publishers from 9 countries participates in the Artists Talks and the nomination of the Photobook Awards, with the Aperture Foundation.

Emerging artists are highlighted in Curiosa, the sector dedicated to emerging artists, under the aegis of curator Shoair Mavlian.
